Here are the words to the Kimba theme songs:
intro:
Kimba
(Kimba)
Kimba
(Kimba)
Kimba
(Kimba)
Kimba
(Kimba)
verse 1:
Who lives down in deepest darkest Africa?
(Africa)
Who's the one who brought the jungle fame?
Who's the king of Animals in Africa?
Kimba the white lion is his name!
verse 2:
When we get in trouble and we're in a fight
Who's the one who just won't turn and run?
Who believes in doing good and doing right?
Kimba the white lion is the one!
verse 3:
He's the greatest leader, there's no doubt of it.
He's the one we count on night and day.
When there's danger he can get us out of it--
Kimba the white lion leads the way!
When most people think of the Kimba theme song, they think of the intro and Verses 1 and 2. This is what you'll find everywhere else on the internet. And here's an MP3 file of it, here.
But some of us remember a different theme. The musical backing was a lighter in texture, the voices a bit more gentle, and it used Verses 1 and 3. Now it appears that hearing this alternate theme at the beginning of an episode signals something different about that episode. How exactly this theme came to be, and why it is on some copies of Kimba shows and not others, are still mysteries. I am told that outside of the US, this version was more commonly heard than the other version. The musical backing on this version was also used for the Spanish dubs of Kimba. Click here to get the MP3 file so you can hear it for yourself.
When you pop in your Kimba tape you will only hear the first version of the theme song. I seem to be the only person preserving the alternate version.
